Getares is enjoyed differently when a visit begins by looking towards the river. The Pícaro introduces riverside scenery beside the beach and reminds us that a cove cannot be understood solely from the sand. Fresh water, vegetation and urban space meet here at an intimate scale, suitable for a quiet outing that attends to detail rather than pursuing a great summit. The idea is to combine whichever riverside promenade is open with the seafront, observe where river and sea meet and end with a pause facing the bay. It is a flexible proposal, especially important while pedestrian connections are renewed. In June 2026, the council announced removal of the old footbridge between Calle Orión and Los Camarotes: an earlier photograph or track does not prove the crossing remains available. Adapt your walk to current signs and do not wade across to complete a circuit. Enjoying this corner also means recognising that the river needs space and its banks are a living environment.

The landscape, step by step

It is a flexible proposal, especially important while pedestrian connections are renewed. In June 2026, the council announced removal of the old footbridge between Calle Orión and Los Camarotes: an earlier photograph or track does not prove the crossing remains available. Adapt your walk to current signs and do not wade across to complete a circuit. Enjoying this corner also means recognising that the river needs space and its banks are a living environment.

Distance is adaptable to open sections; no complete circuit is published until continuity of passages is confirmed.

  2. Walk only the open section of the Río Pícaro riverside park.
