Climbing towards Las Corzas reveals an Algeciras rarely seen on postcards of the port. The mountains become the foreground and the bay lies below, like a geographical explanation of the city. The excursion attracts precisely through this change of scale: alternating the closeness of woodland with places overlooking the coast, and understanding how little separates both worlds. There is no single route called Las Corzas. Approaches and connections begin at different points, and a sporting outing should not be confused with a family stroll. Our proposal is to study the route from El Bujeo towards the viewpoints, decide your turnaround point in advance and spend time observing. Panoramas depend on visibility; if mist hides the horizon, adapt the day to the terrain and the group's safety. Returning to Algeciras after this walk lets you recognise from its streets the slopes you have just walked: a simple way for the landscape to cease being an anonymous backdrop.

The landscape, step by step

Times and distance are omitted because the reference combines several trails and viewpoints.

Where to walk and what to discover

  1. Study the variant starting at the El Bujeo recreation area along the Las Corzas path.
  2. Follow the authorised track to the observation points on your chosen route.
  3. Pause to identify the bay and mountains if visibility allows.
  4. Return before your planned time limit; connections via Algamasilla or Guadalmesí require separate planning.

Access and preparation

The linked reference starts at El Bujeo; other variants start from Algeciras. Check the exact point before travelling.

  • Mountain terrain: not advertised as an easy route or a fully marked circuit.
  • Avoid dense fog, storms and strong wind.
